MacBook Pro Surgery

Ever wonder what the inside of your MacBook Pro laptop looks like? Here it is… I replaced my old 160 gig hard drive last night with a more energy efficient Western Digital Blue Notebook 1 TB drive (model WD10JPVT) giving new life to my old friend.  I use it mainly on location during larger photo shoots so having a large drive for back up storage and all my photo software is critical. A big thank-you goes out to Dennis McMahon at I-cubed Web Design & IT Consulting for the laundry list of do’s and don’ts he sent me for my DIY install. After copying the old drive’s contents over to the new one I did the install in under 45 minutes. Total cost…$85! It’s one happy big Mac. I need to note that mine is an older, pre-unibody design allowing for this upgrade. The newer uni-body designs are not as easy to work on yourself. Here’s a very informative link to Other World Computing’s install video. http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macbookpro_15/
